If the movie itself manages that tone, it might just work. I just can’t count on it…
So yeah, Michael Bay is the Devil, but this is the first trailer that gives me a little bit of hope. If only Michael Bay wasn’t directing it.
He’s not directing it; he’s producing it. Jonathan Liebesman is directing.
Oh. Then I’m moving to incredibly cautious optimism.
Yeah! The guy who directed Wrath of the Titans, Battle Colon Los Angeles and Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning! With Michael Bay producing! Wee!
So the Foot Clan has bombs, guns, RPGs, Shredder’s armor with so much metal that it should be too heavy for him to move around, and…Ghostbuster weapons, or cattle prods, whatever that was that shot streams of energy. And the turtles have their old school ninja weapons, and a skateboard/jet, and…Donatello’s Google Glass prototype?
Is this the story of how the Ninja Turtles got slaughtered because they brought knives to a gunfight?
In realistic movies, swords lose to guns. In the world of deep fiction, bo staffs can deflect bullets, and katanas can slice apart aircraft carriers. As long as its fun, Im good.
Booooo.
