Joe Lynch, the director of the straight-to-DVD Wrong Turn 2: Dead End,
Knights of Badassdom stars Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, Summer Glau (Firefly), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Margarita Levieva, Jimmi Simpson and Danny Pudi (Community) and a group of LARPers who accidentally summon a succubus whilst on a campaign, or whatever you call them. (Think: the last 30 minutes of Role Models crossed with Army of Darkness.)
The film doesn’t seem to have a release date (beyond “2011,”) so there’s no telling when any of us will get to see it, but… methinks the trailer looks pretty funny. What dost thou say?
(Thanks to Twitch for the heads up.)
Joe Lynch and Summer Glau were on the G4 coverage for ComicCon today and they are looking at a Spring 2012 release date now … Probably too late in the summer for a marketing campaign, won’t be horror enough for an October release, and would be lost in the Holiday/Award Season shuffle anytime before March of next year.
They made this pretty quickly and on the cheap from what I’m understanding, which is good because the trailer gives me a SLIGHT ‘Scott Pilgrim’ vibe, and I am slightly fearful about studios going for geeky content after they sunk so much money into that and it failed (see also ‘Your Highness’).
That said, between Glau, Zahn and Pudi I’m fairly excited. But they couldn’t get a more believable geek icon woman than Glau? Seriously, that that woman puts up with geek culture is just crazy.
There’s a definite “Klaatu Barada Necktie” vibe to the trailer with a little super natural “Mazes and Monsters” thrown in (but with a sense of humor, not the more serious edge of that movie.)Â I’m fairly excited to see it when it comes out, I just hope I don’t forget about it by next spring.
I’m in.
Not excited. I’m still recovering from the amount of life I wasted watching MacGruber.Â
If I hear good things, I may give it a watch.
Peter Dinklage is squandering all his GAME OF THRONES cred.
How much cred does Neil Patrick Harris have left after The Smurfs?
