Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson’s follow-up, an adaptation of the 1974 John Le Carré spy novel, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Gary Oldman stars as a man pulled out of retirement to lead a hunt for a Soviet mole in the top ranks of MI6, the British Secret Intelligence Service. Between this and the first trailer, this has shot to the top of my must-see list this winter — largely due to the incredible cast, which also includes Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Tom Hardy, Ciarán Hinds, John Hurt, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
It’s out in the UK on September 16, 2011, and in US theaters on November 18, with late fall and winter releases for most of the rest of the world.
Was it just me or did that trailer have music from X-Men: First Class running in the background?
It did. Trailers often use music from other movies in them, often because its own soundtrack hasn’t been recorded when they needed to have the trailers ready (it’s the very last thing you do in a movie, more or less).
Oooo. I love trailers that don’t reveal much and this is fantastic. I also dig period spy stuff so, I’m there.
Wouldn’t normally say that this was my kind of thing, but the trailer looks fantastic and it’s hard to ignore an amazing cast like that. It’s like a best of British.
I’m reading the book so I can criticize the adaptation. :D
Definitely see the original miniseries too. One of the best the BBC has done – plus Alec Guinness and Ian Richardson an their peaks.
