Trailer Watch: Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, and Isla Fisher in Bachelorette

Yeah, yeah, shades of Bridesmaids. But this is darker and meaner and has a really strong cast: Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, and Isla Fisher star as a trio of horrible, horrible women whose ex-hot friend (Rebel Wilson) gets married, and the three reluctantly? bitchily? go along for the ride. Hilarity ensues — or, at least, that’s the idea.

Kyle Bornheimer, Hayes MacArthur, James Marsden, and Adam Scott star in writer-director Leslye Headland’s film, which opens on September 7th after a VOD premier in August.

The synopsis (much of which you can pick up from the trailer) follows, after the break:

Trailer Watch: Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master theatrical trailer

God. Damn.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, and Amy Adams, and it hits theaters on October 12. You can read a bit more about the film and see the two teaser trailers in this earlier Deleted Scenes post.

Trailer Watch: The Day

WWE Studios and Anchor Bay Films presents The Day, a post-apocalyptic thriller with a pretty sweet premise (as well as a great B-list cast): a group of survivors stumble upon an abandoned farmhouse that turns out to be a trap.

Director Douglas Aarniokoski has been Robert Rodriguez’s 2nd Unit director for years, but this trailer looks to have much less of Rodriguez’s camp flavor.

The Day stars Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism), Michael Eklund (The Divide), Cory Hardrict (Gran Torino, Battle: Los Angeles), Dominic Monaghan (ABC’s “Lost”, Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale). The full official synopsis follows after the break, below.

Trailer Watch: Tom Hardy and Shia in John Hillcoat’s Lawless

A new trailer for Lawless just hit the internet thanks to Yahoo!, and while I don’t really think this is a good trailer, but it probably isn’t the last one we’ll see. I’m on board because of the director (John Hillcoat, The Proposition, The Road) and the cast — yes, even Shia.

Lawless stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman and Mia Wasikowska. Nick Cave (The Proposition) adapted the screenplay from the novel “The Wettest County in the World” by Matt Bondurant.
