Trailer Watch: Fucking awesome new Godzilla international trailer

In the fucking awesome new trailer for Godzilla, we get some familiar footage, a few new glimpses of everybody’s favorite personification of the atomic bomb, and a pretty sweet shot of our first… nah, I’ll let the trailer spoil it for you. (Unless you want to go in as blank as possible, in which case… spoiler warning!)

So. Fucking. Awesome.

You can tell I’m excited about this movie, right?

Anyway. Godzilla returns to theaters courtesy director Gareth Edwards (and Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures) on May 16, 2014.

Trailer Watch: Teaser for David B’s L’Ascension du Haut Mal (Epileptic)

David B’s Epileptic is one of my all-time favorite graphic novels. It’s an autobiographical story about Pierre-François Beauchard’s youth, focusing on his relationship with his epileptic brother Jean-Christophe. (I reviewed it nine years ago for Bookslut, if you’re curious about the book — but you should just buy it now.)

The comic has been adapted into a gorgeous animated movie with French title L’Ascension du Haut Mal by Christophe Gérard. (When it finds domestic distribution, it will almost certainly pick up the comic’s American title.)

A second, shorter teaser can be found at the film’s official website. They haven’t announced a release date yet, as far as I know, but I’ll be seeing it as soon as possible.

Trailer Watch: Captain America: The Winter Soldier 4-minute preview trailer

Be warned: this is really a three minute clip from the movie with a 1-minute trailer at the end. AND there is one or two spoilery things that you may not want to see, if you want to go into the theater with as close to a blank slate as possible.

However. If that doesn’t bother you, it is pretty awesome. The action we see here is a lot of fun.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Robert Redford and Samuel L. Jackson. It hits theaters on April 4, 2014.

Trailer Watch: Stage Fright, a horror-comedy-musical

Stage Fright actually looks like a fun, campy horror flick. The film premieres at SXSW soon, but it will hit VOD on April 3, before a limited theatrical run beginning May 9th.

Here’s the synopsis, courtesy Twitch:

Starry-eyed teenager Camilla Swanson wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a Broadway diva, but she’s stuck working in the kitchen of a snobby performing arts camp. Determined to change her destiny, she sneaks in to audition for the summer showcase and lands a lead role in the play, but just as rehearsals begin, blood starts to spill, and Camilla soon finds herself terrified by the horror of musical theatre.
