Trailer Watch: Cloud Atlas domestic trailer

A little over a month after the five minute international trailer for Cloud Atlas hit the web, we now have a domestic trailer, which gives you the barest details of the plot(s) and showcases a few of the film’s stars. The film (like the novel) weaves together six separate-yet-connected stories: a 19th century sea expedition, 1930s Belgium, 1970s California, present day London, a dystopian future Korea, and a post-apocalyptic Hawaii.

Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, Bae Doona, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, Keith David, James D’Arcy and Hugo Weaving star in the October 26th release. Andy and Lana Wachowski & Tom Tykwer co-wrote and co-directed the film.

Shpadoinkle! Watch Cannibal! the Musical NOW

Cannibal! the Musical is a 1996 (pre-South Park) film by Trey Parker, starring Parker, his South Park comrade-in-arms Matt Stone and several familiar faces from Orgazmo: Dian Bachar (Choda Boy), Maseo Maki (G Fresh), and Toddy Walters (Georgi).

It’s distributed by Troma Films, which has officially put over a hundred of their films on YouTube — free.

If you’re a fan of South Park or Parker’s other movies (Orgazmo and Team America), you’ll probably love Cannibal!, as well. It’s absurdly, insanely hilarious, if a little uneven. Well worth at least one viewing — I still find myself catching small details when I revisit it: listen for Dian Bachar jingling his keys while he hits on the “Indian” woman.

Shpadoinkle!

Trailer Watch: Lawless red band trailer

The new, red band trailer for Lawless is out, and it still looks pretty damned good.

Director John Hillcoat’s follow-up to The Road stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman and Mia Wasikowska. Nick Cave (The Proposition) adapted the screenplay from the novel “The Wettest County in the World” by Matt Bondurant. The film hits theaters on August 29.
