The Triple Feature 2.0: Philip Seymour Hoffman and The LEGO Movie recording tonight at 9pm Central

Tom, Joe, and I had a great time with the last Patreon videocast that we decided to do it again for the next one! (They won’t be joining me every time necessarily; but it’s fun to have them.)

While we had a different slate set up (which we’ll get to next time) we all agreed that more timely topics had presented themselves in the last couple of weeks: the tragic loss of Philip Seymour Hoffman and the release of the universally adored The LEGO Movie, from the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs writer-directors, Chris Miller and Phil Lord.

Join us in the Google Hangout on Air at 9pm Central (or thereabouts)! Or if you can’t make it, I’ll post the video (and an audio-only download) to this post as soon as possible. Patreon backers at the $10+ level will get an invite from inside the hangout shortly before we start.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, and Amy Adams, and it hits theaters on October 12. You can read a bit more about the film and see the two teaser trailers in this earlier Deleted Scenes post.

A second teaser trailer for Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master has found its way to the internet, thanks to the Weinstein Co. The film revolves around a “drifter” (Joaquin Phoenix) who falls in with a charismatic intellectual named Lancaster Dodd shortly after World War II as the latter starts a religious organization called “The Cause” and begins to have doubts as it grows in popularity.

The film also stars Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, and Amy Adams. It hits theaters on October 12 — a little earlier than I’d expect for an obvious Oscar contender. Perhaps the Weinsteins are skittish about its Oscar chances due to some parallels between The Cause and Scientology?

The first teaser was released last month and is embedded below, after the jump:
