Trailer Watch: Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

The trailer for Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was attached to The Wolverine last weekend, and I was pretty impressed by the tone of the film. A remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye film of the same name (based on a James Thurber short story), the film centers around a repressed dude (Stiller) with a big imagination, and blah blah. Character drama and special effects ensue.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty co-stars Kristen Wiig, Kathryn Hahn, Sean Penn, Adam Scott, Patton Oswalt, and Shirley MacLaine, and it opens on Christmas Day.

Trailer Watch: And a third single-take Gravity trailer

This was up on Saturday, I think, but I’m a little behind on… well, everything. But anyway, following “Detached” and “Drifting,” is a third single-take clip/trailer from Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, called “I’ve Got You.”

Trailer Watch: Japanese Space Pirate Captain Harlock trailer

Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina director Shinji Aramaki is back with a CG-animated adaptation of Space Pirate Captain Harlock. This third trailer (all in Japanese, so… hopefully you either speak it, or you’re familiar enough with the anime that you have some idea of what’s going on). I never did, and my Japanese is basically non-existent, so I’m totally lost… but it sure looks pretty.

The film is out in Japan this September, but no signs of an American release at this time. It’s all but guaranteed to make it here on video, eventually, though, so if you’re a fan, just hang in there.

If you really want to spoil it for yourself, there’s about twelve minutes of footage online here.

Interview with Pipedream Comics

This has been up for a couple of days, but I recently spoke with Alex Thomas of Pipedream Comics (“the ultimate guide to the world of digital comics”) about Multiplex — not just the webcomic, but also Multiplex for iPhone and iPod touch, the eBooks, and more.

It’s a pretty long interview (five pages!), but if whether you’re just a fan of the comic or interested in digital comics as a Big Idea, you’re pretty likely to learn something new about Multiplex in it.
