The trailer for Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was attached to The Wolverine last weekend, and I was pretty impressed by the tone of the film. A remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye film of the same name (based on a James Thurber short story), the film centers around a repressed dude (Stiller) with a big imagination, and blah blah. Character drama and special effects ensue.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty co-stars Kristen Wiig, Kathryn Hahn, Sean Penn, Adam Scott, Patton Oswalt, and Shirley MacLaine, and it opens on Christmas Day.
The tone of it reminds me a lot of “Stranger Than Fiction”. Which I love.
feelings of science of sleep, and anderson vibes…
everytime i see anything about this movie, i get more and more excited. totally set to see this in theaters.
i should just buckle down and watch the original though.
Got a Gondry feel from it. Looks like I could dig it, and I am NOT a fan of the original short story nor the Danny Kaye film.
Excellent trailer. I’ll certainly keep an eye out for it.
Interesting, that’s actually not the same trailer I got with Wolverine. The change was instead of that “I’ll take the red one” scene, we got Kristin Wiig waking Stiller out of a day dream while sitting in a park. I liked that better. This Eskimo car rental scene makes it look more quirky than it probably really is.
