The 21 Jump Street movie was so much better than it had any right to be, thanks in large part to Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs). It did really well, and so Hollywood is giving us another one:
22 Jump Street. June 13, 2014, baby.
File this under “sequels I never, ever, ever, ever would have thought I’d be in for.”
I love how they’re basically making fun of the whole premise in that first line.
“Nobody gave a shit about the Jump Street reboot, but you got lucky. So now this department has invested a lot of money to make sure Jump Street keeps going.” Translation: We made the first movie on a whim, and didn’t really expect too much out of it, but for some reason people seemed to like it. So now we’re going to pump money into this franchise to see how long it takes before we kill it for good.
Also, are they gonna have to keep changing buildings every movie?
It’s the same but more and I love it.
