Trailer Watch: Spoiler-free How to Train Your Dragon 2 trailer

So the word going around about the new How to Train Your Dragon 2 trailer is that there is a massive, why-would-you-put-that-in-the-trailer spoiler in it. I don’t know, because I haven’t seen it.

Thanks to Berk’s Grapevine, here’s a spoiler-free (or spoiler light) version:

Those of you who want to see the original can find it over here. So help me gods, if any of you talk about the spoiler in here, you’ll be banned from commenting. I’d like to try to make it ’til June 13, 2014 (when the movie is out) blissfully unaware of a few details of this movie.

Anyway, though, I guess that’s around when you can expect to see Hiccup again in Multiplex.

Thanks for the twist-free trailer. Am I gonna have to bring noise-cancelling earphones to The Lego Movie?

  2. Nicolas Gagné says:

One of my favorite animated films getting a sequel that looks, from the trailer, like it’s the right kind of sequel. Can’t wait.
I wish I hadn’t seen the trailer with the spoiler.

  3. Guest says:

You are going to have to go internet blackout if you want to avoid spoilers. Good luck sir. We will see you in July.

  4. Nick Piers says:

Spoiler: The movie has dragons in it.

  5. NO SPOILERS I PROMISE!!! But honestly, the spoiler is NOT going to ruin the movie for you if you learn it. I think it might ruin one GASP moment… but ultimately I’m still just super excited to see this. Did kind of make me wonder why they would include it in the trailer… but eh.

If a movie’s well told, nothing can “ruin” it. But a big part of the fun of seeing movies is being surprised.

      • David says:

Well, I haven’t seen any of the movies, but I watched the “spoiler”, and yes, I would be surprised if in the context of the full movie it would not constitute a HUGE spoiler. So if you plan to be enjoying the movie as a full movie from the get-go, I’d recommend against seeing that trailer.

It’s really of the “that’s supposed to be trailer?” kind.

I somehow managed to avoid any spoilers for The Matrix (I was working a lot at the time). Made it SO much more awesome. Advertisers think spoilers “improve” the movie experience for you, but that is CRAP.

  6. Billy Crossley says:

In all honesty, the spoiler wasn’t that surprising or spoilery. But I’m glad there’s a trailer up for people who want to avoid the spoiler regardless.

  7. Lauren Lance says:

I saw the one with the spoiler and I really wish I could have seen the spoiler free one. It hasn’t really been ruined for me but I would have really loved to have first experienced it in theaters. With that said, I am so looking forward to this movie that it isn’t even funny. My brother and I are already making plans for us to see it together the day it comes out.

where’s the strip for it! can’t wait to see Jason going bonkers! hahaha

  9. Molnek says:

I was kind of annoyed when I saw the trailer with the spoiler, but more so because now I have a bunch of questions and want to see the movie even more now for answers, so I guess it did its job there.
