From IGN comes the trailer for the new David Gordon Green comedy, The Sitter, starring Jonah Hill, Sam Rockwell, Max Records, Kevin Hernandez, Landry Bender, J.B. Smoove and Method Man. I didn’t see Your Highness, but this R-rated riff on the Adventures in Babysitting mold is another head-scratcher for the former director of ponderous, Terrence Malick-esque films like All the Real Girls and George Washington… but at least it’s kind of funny.
The Sitter hits theaters on December 9, 2011, where it probably hopes to bring in the people (like me) who get sick to death of all the rampant consumerism and saccharine “Christmas” shit going on that time of year.
Looks semi funny. How much do you think those kids get paid to be swore at? Â At what point did their parents make a conscious decision exploit their kids by opening them up to bad language and adult themes?
I actually noticed the kids aren’t in frame when he swears. Even during the “interview” opening. Â I know I wouldn’t be able to use that language around kids under 15, maybe he’s the same way?
In the opening, one of the kids says “asshole,” but yeah, most of the time, they’re out of frame when things get R-rated.
And when he’s with the little girl, he drops the F-bomb a couple of times with her in frame (although her back is to the camera both times, I think). Once in a blue moon, people will have one of the actors (either a kid who’s supposed to be swearing, or an adult swearing around a kid) say something that looks close and then raunch it up in overdubs, but I don’t think that’s all that common.
Sometimes, you just pay the kid to actually swear or get sworn at. It’s not like it’s a big deal. There are plenty of bright kids who understand the difference between play-acting and real life.
Hmmm, I didn’t think about that. Interesting.
The movie looks funny and thank goodness it was made before Jonah Hill got skinny.
Thin Jonah Hill scares me.
AWESOME!
