Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to one of the most surprisingly great* action-adventure flicks of the last several years, arrives on July 11, 2014.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) directs this time around, but it still looks great. I have a lot of faith in the writers (Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, returning from Rise) that this will be good.
* at least for this Planet of the Apes fan.

The 21 Jump Street movie was so much better than it had any right to be, thanks in large part to Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs). It did really well, and so Hollywood is giving us another one:

This terrific animated short from TED-Ed looks at the evolution of modern bird feathers using narration by Carl Zimmer and some lovely animation by Armella Leung. Beautifully done.
