Trailer Watch: The Bourne Legacy and Skyfall

One of the most unnecessary sequels ever made — a Bourne sequel without Jason Bourne — is out soon, and yet the trailer looks pretty interesting. Tony Gilroy (screenwriter of the original films) is back as writer and is also taking over directing duties.

The Bourne Legacy stars Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) as the Matt Damon stand-in, and honestly, I don’t really care what it’s about. It’ll be in theaters on August 3rd, though.

I didn’t post the new teaser for Skyfall (the next 007 film) when it came out, because I didn’t think it showed all that much to get worked up about, but here that is for your compare/contrasting pleasure. Skyfall hits theaters in the US on November 9.

Trailer Watch: Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol theatrical trailer

Courtesy Yahoo! Movies comes the “exclusive” new trailer for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, from director Brad Bird (Iron Giant, The Incredibles).

This new trailer gives you a little more about the story than the teaser trailer, but lacks the teaser’s punch, I think. Still, I trust Brad Bird not to make a bad movie, and there are enough glimpses of awesome between the two trailers that I’m still very much on board.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol hits theaters on December 16th.

Trailer Watch: The Avengers teaser trailer

This is a few days old, of course, but since I’d spaced on posting it here and Alexander Gajic reminded me, so…

I’m very, very excited about this movie, naturally, but other than the Hulk, I didn’t see much in this to get me more excited about it than I already was. They have to save something for the full trailer, of course. (And hopefully for the movie, too.)

Written and directed by Joss Whedon (you know who he is), The Avengers hits theaters on May 4, 2012 in the US.
