Trailer Watch: Judd Apatow’s This Is 40 theatrical trailer

I’ve been on board with This Is 40 since its announcement, because Pete and Debbie (Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann) were the best part of Knocked Up. Its teaser trailer was pretty good, but the theatrical trailer is flat-out great — funny, warm, and smart — and it probably speaks to me a little, because I’m only a few years away from 40.

Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd, Albert Brooks, Jason Segel, Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) and Megan Fox star in the December 21st release.

ParaNorman making-of featurette: “Hand-making the World”

I posted the trailer for Laika’s ParaNorman last October, and while the film still has a little way to go before its August 17th release, Focus Features has posted a making-of featurette on the official website.

I’m a huge animation nerd, and I love behind the scenes/making-of stuff, so I thought I’d post something other than a trailer or a short film just this once.

A synopsis for the zombie flick follows after the cut:

Trailer Watch: Judd Apatow’s This Is 40

Judd Apatow’s This Is 40 follows Knocked Up‘s scene-stealing characters Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) into middle age. It’s a clear — almost literal — step back from Funny People, which felt to me like two movies smooshed together, only one of which was really good. A little self-indulgent, a little too long… but still very funny and full of wonderful characters.

This Is 40 also stars Megan Fox, John Lithgow, Iris Apatow, Maude Apatow, Melissa McCarthy, Robert Smigel, Charlene Yi and Albert Brooks. (And Jason Segel is obviously in it, as well, though probably not a whole lot. Katherine Heigl? Definitely not in it.)

Fellow Apatow fans, see you in the theater on December 21st.
