Trailer Watch: RZA’s The Man with the Iron Fists

Thanks to SnoutyPig, we have the trailer for RZA’s directorial debut, The Man with the Iron Fists. Co-written by RZA and Eli Roth, the film centers around a blacksmith in feudal China (played by RZA) who reluctantly comes to the defense of his small village. Clearly, we’re not going for historical accuracy here, because China had its borders locked up tight to foreigners, and clearly, neither RZA nor Russell Crowe are Chinese… but if that’s something you think needs to be nitpicked about, how about shutting up for those of us who know how to lighten the fuck up? This shit looks sweeeeet.

The film stars Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Byron Mann, RZA, Rick Yune, David Bautista, and Jamie Chung. Corey Yuen was the fight choreographer. For whatever reason, it doesn’t have a release date yet.

Trailer Watch: Domestic trailer for Looper

Hot on the heels of the international trailer, the new domestic trailer for Rian Johnson’s Looper also looks effin’ amazing… and also feels like they might be showing too much.

We’ll see. Looper opens on September 28 and stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo and Jeff Daniels.

Trailer Watch: The Total Recall theatrical trailer is ridiculously awesome.

A full trailer for Len Wiseman’s Total Recall is up, and while there’s the ever-present fear (these days) that the trailer is showing too many of the awesome bits, I love the shit out of it. I think I’ll be avoiding anything else about this movie so that I can actually it when I see it in theaters. Checkitout:

Now, I was on board with this flick from the teaser trailer, but how about you fence-sitters (or nay-sayers)? Has this won any of you over?

Total Recall stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy, and John Cho. It opens August 3rd.

Trailer Watch: Bill Murray as FDR in Hyde Park on Hudson

You can tell it’s getting closer to Oscarbait season when the trailers start popping up in mid- to late-summer.

This one, for Hyde Park on Hudson features Bill Murray doing a charming (but not slavish) take on FDR. Knowing the Academy’s love for impressions over proper acting, this mix of both will likely draw some attention. Surely Focus Features is counting on that, with its December 7th release date — just a week before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. (Fortunately, it has little competition, with only Playing the Field opening that weekend, a comedy starring Gerard Butler as a former athlete turned kids’ soccer coach who finds it a little too easy to score with his players’ moms.)

Samuel West stars as King George VI, though he looks a bit more like Colin Firth (who won the Best Actor Oscar for playing George VI in 2010’s The King’s Speech) than the real King, if you ask me. That can’t be a coincidence. Anyway, check out the trailer below:

Hyde Park on Hudson was directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill) and stars Bill Murray, Laura Linney, Olivia Colman, Samuel West, Elizabeth Marvel, Elizabeth Wilson, Eleanor Bron, and Olivia Williams.
