Multiplex - a comic strip about life at the movies
DELETED SCENES

Trailer Watch: ScarJo stars in Limitless 2: The Matrix — I mean, Lucy

Luc Besson specializes in ridiculous action movies, so while there’s a lot of conceptual potential here, the Sherlocky (mind palace-esque) bits in the trailer make me feel like the actual movie will probably make me roll my eyes a lot. Even so, it looks pretty fun.

I do really wish filmmakers could let women badasses just be a badass more often without ever resorting to the using-their-feminine-wiles cliché… sigh

Here’s the synopsis:

Set in a futuristic world that is run by the mob, street gangs, drug addicts and corrupted cops, Lucy (Scarlett Johansson), a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan, 2069 AD, works as a drug mule for the mob. The drug she inadvertently takes goes into her system, changing her into a metahuman. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts.

Scarlett Johannson and Morgan Freeman stars in the Luc Besson flick, which hits theaters on August 8, 2014.

I’ve been drawing Turtles, I guess. Here’s Leonardo.

leonardo

Because of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer and working on #900 over the last week, I decided to draw Donatello (because he’s the best) for the Patreon backers’ Activity Stream… and then I drew Raphael (because he’s cool but rude)… and by that point I figured I should probably draw all of them, so Michelangelo went up there last night, and here’s Leonardo for everybody to see.

I’m not sure if I’ll draw more characters from the Turtleverse (maybe if enough people ask nicely), but I’ll definitely draw more stuff and share them with you guys either here or there. Feel free to use this as a social media avatar or anything else non-commercial. (I’m using Donatello as my own Twitter avatar lately!)

“Inside the greatest sci-fi film never made” by Bryan Bishop

The Verge’s Bryan Bishop has posted a terrific interview with Frank Pavich about Alejandro Jodorowsky’s unproduced Dune. The interest in this project since Pavich’s documentary Jodorowsky’s Dune popped up has been awesome. I, for one, am dying for a giant, coffee table book loaded with pictures. (Not that one has been announced, but… hopefully someone will get the idea.)

Feast your eyes on this lovely piece by Chris Foss, and click through to the article at The Verge for the many, many more pictures:

Trailer Watch: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles official trailer

Jonathan Liebesman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theaters on August 8, 2014.

I kind of like the Turtle designs… although I seem to be in the minority there. Speaking of minorities, though, William Fichtner is Shredder. What.

P.S. Don’t forget that I sell TMNT-style Michael Bay is the Devil T-shirts!
